Born and raised in Utah, Ryan Jay Steineckert graduated Magna Cum Laude from Southern Utah University, the state's fully accredited liberal arts and sciences university. While earning a B.A. in broadcasting and journalism, Ryan served as a Student Association Senator, Program Director and Sports Director for the university's radio station KSUU. In 2004-05 he was named the Communication Department's Outstanding Student in Broadcasting, the university's Broadcaster of the Year for both radio and TV and the university newspaper's Most Versatile Writer/Photographer.
Ryan is crazy about his wife, Michelle, and two boys Brigham and Dean. He loves sports (although he’s much better at broadcasting than he is at playing). He started doing radio at the Pleasant Grove High School radio station KPGR, mainly to hear more Led Zeppelin, but quickly found his passion for broadcasting sports.
Ryan served a 2-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS to Guadalajara, Mexico and continues to serve in his local church ward. The Eagle Scout enjoys the outdoors, mountain biking, hiking, golfing, classic and alternative Rock, authentic Mexican food, chocolate (his dark master), creating computer graphics, building sand castles (usually with his boys), college football and spending time with family.
Growing up with four sisters and no brothers, along with loving and hard-working parents, educated Ryan on the value of patience and that the team – whether on the athletic field, in the community, at work or home – counts on you and you count on them. Playing sports growing up and officiating high school soccer taught him vital life lessons of hard work, commitment and striving for excellence. These lessons shaped, and continue to define, who he strives to be.
